Philosophy of Education My goal in teaching is to create knowledgeable, kind, and happy people. I desire to establish a foundation in each child that enables them to develop who they are and what they believe, while nurturing skills to help them discover God’s plan for their life. My classroom is a launching pad for new ideas, safe learning, and meaningful relationships. I believe school is not only a place to develop your mind, but also your body and soul. Social learning provides children with benefits culturally, academically, spiritually, and emotionally. A positive learning environment is an opportunity for students to be successful and gain confidence about who they are becoming.
Project-based learning is a key element of my approach to teaching. Students demonstrate a deeper understanding and enjoyment of the content. Presenting hands-on learning opportunities and flexible seating encourages students to actively engage with new information and develop a positive relationship with learning. To teach a student, you must first have a relationship with the student. I view each student as an individual, with unique learning methods and emotional needs. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to work with the student to discover their learning styles. I hope to be a guiding light in my student’s lives that provides direction and support both academically and spiritually. I aim to do this by motivating them to discover the talents they possess, and using those talents to do God’s work (Matthew 25:14-30). |
